Retention of basic and neutral compounds
Inertsil HILIC shows strong retentivity especially for basic and neutral compounds among polar compounds.

Compatible with aqueous-organic mobile phases
HILIC is a variation of normal phase mode. The organic solvents mixed with water can be used as the mobile phase in HILIC, while non-aqueous organic solvents are used as the mobile phase in normal phase mode. In HILIC, the higher the organic concentration in the solvents, the greater the retention of highly polar compounds.
The figure below demonstrates that Inertsil HILIC retains the analyte more strongly with the higher concentration of CH3CN.

Separation of Oligosaccharide
Analysis of Water Soluble Vitamins ; Inertsil HILIC offers strong retentivity with high % of Acetonitrile eluent. Inertsil HILIC separated 4 vitamins with 90% Acetonitrile eluent but failed with lower % of Acetonitrile eluent.
Analysis of Amino Acids ; Inertsil HILIC offers strong retentivity with high % of Acetonitrile eluent. With 85% Acetonitrile eluent, Inertsil HILIC separated 5 amino acids clearly.
